Manager,
Theatre and Film Scholar,
Expert on Indian Culture

my profile

I am a manager, a scholar of cinema and theatre, an expert on India, and a Hindi teacher. I teach classes at the National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw.

My research focuses on the cultural interpretation of performances, closely examining their social, political and religious underpinnings. A public performance, in my view, speaks volumes about the broader culture in which it plays a role, and is therefore a tool for learning about society and its traditions. I analyze portrayals of women in film and theatre, contemporary interpretations of traditional mythology and the intertwining of cinematic and theatrical aesthetics. I have authored a monograph about film and theatre adaptations of the Ramayana epic (soon to be published). I have also translated some poems by the Hindi poet Kunwar Narayan. I study the traditions of kathputli puppet theatre and lead marionette workshops. I also lead cross-cultural communication workshops focusing on India and Southeast Asia.

Working in culture, project management and event organization, I have been the production manager for a film, organized English-language workshops about India, directed premiere screenings and ceremonies, emceed events, delivered lectures, led cultural training courses, coordinated festivals, promoted events, translated films, and provided consultations on Indian culture. I lead intercultural communication workshops focusing on India and South-East Asia.

I have 13 years of experience in science administration. I am a deputy director of administration at the PAS Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures.

My professional experience encompasses 20 years of activity in academia, culture, administrative and project management.

A great weekend with Indian cinema in EC1 Łódź. I had the pleasure of joining a debate moderated by Martyna Gajewska. With Monika Nowakowska, PhD, we discussed the meaning of the Bollywood term, the reception of Indian cinema in Poland, India, and worldwide. We also focused on stardom in the era of streaming. Our debate was an introduction to the Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge screening. Although the film is from 1995, it is constantly screened in one of India’s theatres. And its popularity does not decrease. As proof of that, we could hear enthusiastic reactions from viewers. Loughs, tears, and huge applause at the end of the screening. Great event, joyful atmosphere, and critical reflection on Indian cinema.

I look forward to
working together!
